Item Details for
Wiper Gear Box - Bombardier Nose - $250

The design of the windshield wiper mechanism for the bombardier nose requires a gear box to change the rotation motion of the wiper motor to recipicating motion that is required to drive the windshield wiper.

This is gear box, in cooperation with the separate wiper motor, drives the single windshield wiper in the bombardier glass nose. That one window is in the very front of the aircraft, just below the 50 cal gun. The bomb sight looks out this window during the final moments of the bomb run, so it is critical that any rain be wiped off this window pane so that the bombardier has clear view of the enemy's target.

The gear box is positioned on the left side of the bombardier nose at the base of the windows. It can be clearly seen from the outside of the aircraft.

This item does not include the silver-colored cable that connections this wiper motor to the gear box.
